Another major player in the full bust market is Wacoal-Eveden, the lingerie giant that owns popular brands like Freya, Wacoal, and Goddess. I was fortunate enough to squeeze in some time to see a few collections from the core Eveden brands at Curve last month. I am pleased to bring you my perspective on the Freya, Fantasie and Huit lines for AW'15.
I have to be honest...I was pretty disappointed with the new Freya collection as a whole. It wasn't adventurous and I did not like most of the prints - especially the Deco Debut and both colorways of the Minx. I'm a 24 year old woman and feel that I am well within Freya's target demographic, but in my opinion, these prints are better suited towards girls aged 16 to 18. Pink and all-over animal print in one garment would never make it into my drawer, which is a shame because I actually love the shape of the Minx - the cut-out in the gore is very Gossard-esque. The Hypnotise and Crush printed florals didn't really impress me either, but I would be willing to try them if the cuts were flattering.
On a positive note, I do like the new colorway of the Starlet and the black polka-dot Deco Spotlight. I tried the Starlet halfcup in Mint from SS'15 (review coming soon!) and was sized out despite loving the cut, so I'm eager to check out the balcony version as well. As far as new styles go, the Hero, Vixen and Icon also struck my fancy with their simplicity of color and sophisticated look. The Hero in Berry reminds me a bit of the Curvy Kate Dare colorway from AW'14 which I really love.
I feel much better about the new Fantasie collection. Although it wasn't revolutionary, I thought many of the designs and color choices looked very classy and elegant. A few pieces even seem to fill the void that was left by Fauve after Eveden discontinued the luxury line. The Marianna and Francesca are both beautiful. However, just like in Panache Black, I wish more of the luxurious Fauve-like pieces ventured outside of the black + deep jewel tone/navy color formula. Black is not the only sexy, sophisticated color, people!
A few of my other favorites were the Allegra vertical seam half-cup in electric blue, the Elodie in cobalt, and the Clementine. If Fantasie carried 28 bands, I would be ALL over several pieces from this collection. I currently don't own a single Fantasie bra, but I hope to change that sometime soon.
Although Huit is not a full-bust brand by any means, I was so impressed by this collection that I had to write about it. I hope it will appeal to my smaller busted readers or perhaps the fuller busted ladies out there will commiserate with me about being sized out.
The colors are brilliant, the laces are lovely, and some of the designs are incredibly unique. I am absolutely in love with the D L'Air bra in Citronelle - it's no easy feat to make a highlighter yellow lace bra look so adorable. Also, the Grand Soir longline is absolutely killing me with that geometric pattern and sheer cutouts in the bodice. However, my favorite style might be the Nouvel Emoi half-cup. Those little sleeves are so whimsical and pretty! I might break my bra fit rules and sister-size my usual 28FF into the 32E because I like it that much.
How do you feel about these collections from Eveden? Excited, in love, disappointed, or underwhelmed?
